Ylang Ylang
This is a pretty scented tree also called the perfume tree. In Indonesia, the flowers are spread out on the bed of newly-weds. The scent is flowery, sweetish and very intoxicating.
In old times, women in the Pacific area mixed Ylang Ylang oil with coconut oil to protect their hair against salt water. They made a salve called “Boori Boori” which had a rejuvenating and nutritious effect.
Is calming in cases of stress, depression and sleeplessness. It redresses the balance in the production of tallow, and is therefore well-suited to dry as well as oily scalps. Increases hair growth.
Yarrow
Used in China to tell fortunes, and in Scotland it was thought to give protection against evil. It was also known by the crusaders as an excellent substance for healing cuts and was therefore given the name “the grass that stops bleeding”. It regulates the blood circulation and the hormonal balance. Yarrow is used externally on the skin in cases of rashes, eczema, scars, acne and dry skin. Has an uplifting effect.
